Mackie ProFX8v2 Review and USB Mix Minus tutorial

I got a Mackie ProFX8v2 USB connected mixer over Christmas and decided it was time to review it, and I also figured out how to Mix minus using a single computer as both the interviewing and effects rack device, so I threw in a little tutorial on it with my thoughts. I won’t be going over every single feature available on this mixer, that’s what their website and documentation is for.

Here’s where you can pick one up:

Tommy You have a lot of nice stuff! If you don’t mind me asking, what do you do for living?

Great video… One little reference mistake though; you refered to the peak/vu meter as a graphic eq, there is no graphic eq on this console and that meter works exactly as it should.

Does this mixer allow for monitor speakers bypass.

In a bedroom studio setup(without a vocal booth) where everything is in close proximity (headphones, mics and studio monitors) doing vocals means I have to power down my monitors.

Does this mixer have a volume control specifically for the speakers while leaving the headphones untouched??

I’m trying to decide between the Mackie ProFX8v2 and the Yamaha MG12XU, on which one I should buy to use for my PC. But I cannot find a USB review for the MG12XU.

I wanted to know get both a USB inputs and outputs from a computer.

Is there a way you can do a video comparison for both mixers?

Hi! That was very informative video! One queston: I want to do mix minus and hook up my mic, iphone as a music source and sampler for some additional effects to Mackie. Do I need also external sound card for this operation?

Sir Nigel Cogs Gaming says:

That music you were playing sounds really familiar. Is it from a video game?
