Razer Blade 15 Review

Lisa Gade reviews the Razer Blade 15, the company’s first major redesign of their unibody aluminum 2kg ultraportable gaming laptop with dedicated graphics and an Intel 8th gen 6 core i7-8750H CPU. The 2018 Razer Blade has a 15.6” display available in 144Hz IPS and 60Hz matte full HD variants, and there’s a 4K UHD 100% Adobe RGB option too. You can get it with your choice of an NVIDIA GTX 1060 Max-Q or GTX 1070 Max-Q, and we have the 144Hz GTX 1070 model. Cooling is improved thanks to vapor chamber cooling and a much larger heatsink, and RAM is now upgradeable with a max of 32GB DDR4 2666Mhz RAM. It ships with a PCIe NVMe SSD, has Thunderbolt 3, HDMI 2.0b, mini DisplayPort 1.4 and USB-A ports. Other features include a Razer Chroma per key RGB backlit keyboard, an MS Precision glass trackpad, and narrow display bezels. It competes with the MSI GS65 Stealth Thin, Gigabyte Aero 15X and Asus ROG Zephyrus GM501. Pricing starts at $1,899.

Does the RB 15 have a TPM chip? There are conflicting reports out there, some say it does, some that it doesn’t?

Unknown ???? says:

Avii Nuo says:

If I have a 144hz monitor but am moving to college dorms and dont want to bring a full desktop would you recommend buying this in 60hz to use for study in day and to connect with displayport to the 144hz monitor in evenings for gaming.

Takeoverartist1987 says:

the problem with a 2k+ GAMING laptop not having an Ethernet port is that any real gamer would want the best most stable connection possible. granted most serious gamers would use a desktop. having the portability of something like this is a good option for some of us on the go. but removing the Ethernet port on such a premium priced laptop is not a good move. especially being that other brands have much stronger gaming laptops for nearly 1k less than this. that’s a steep price for looks

Jonathan Bright says:

She called it a “Big leather daddy man bracelet” lmao!! xD

David Howard says:

Who actually buys the overpriced crap from Razer? I’ve bought over 10 items from Razer in the past and every single one of them had some kind of problem… I put them at the bottom of my list now.

yshouldi foogle says:

no Ethernet is a dealbreaker for me

Basanta Shah says:

Dell, time to learn something about web cam haha.

MobileTechReview says:

SSD easy heat fix: I just tested a Fujipoly 1.5mm thermal pad (stacked x2 over controller chip, single thickness elsewhere) and it drops the SSD temps 20C! Woohoo! That allows it to use the bottom cover as a heatsink for serious heat dispersion. Now the SSD averages 30C at idle and 49C when running the CrystalDiskMark SSD benchmark.

Gethin Coles says:

just bought the 4k version on the aero 15x with 1070. The screen is a bit smeary. Anyone else found this? THe laptop is tiny for something so powerful.

dejan kuzmanovic says:

It really looks great but man that price… It goes up to 3000€ in Europe. I built my pc for 3000 and it has a gtx 1080ti, ryzen 7 1700x, 32gb of ram, 1TB SSD, Hp omen 144hz monitor and a corsair k70 rapidfire… same price but you can not compare the experience

Cheung14 says:

Give one away please! That would be so awesome!

TabalugaDragon says:

Awesome review Lisa! You only forgot about GPU udnervolting, which is possible via MSI afterburner curve

Lum says:

No SD why 🙁 WHY??>?

Montisaquadeis says:

Yeah my old Deathadder 3.5g from 2010 is still stuck on 2.0 and then theres Razer Surround which is stuck on 2.0 as well. My newer Atheris is on 3.0 so I am sort of forced to keep both 2.0 and 3.0 installed at this point.

IamJellow says:

why is this recommended?

JimmyDPX says:

Best female tech reviewer on youtube

Pedro the Spicy gamer says:

Is it touch screen ?

Tyler B says:

Asus ROG Zephyrus is so much better. I’ve owned both – The only thing I like on the Razer more is the size of the bezel that surround the screen. (It looks a lot like Dell’s XPS notebooks)

eddiOrtiz says:

this is not a man? :O

thelcrysis says:
