The design and build quality is top notch. The Surface laptop is easy to carry around for school without adding much weight to your backpack or bag. The Surface Laptop I am reviewing is the burgundy with the core i5 and 8GB of Ram. The speakers are loud and clear but my microphone does it no justice as it sounds hi-pitched. This is one of Microsoft’s best looking products. I am very impressed with the performance.
I don’t feel that the surface laptop is a good deal for students because it’s price is a bit too high. The surface book seems to be a better deal to me because it offers a detachable screen, comes with a pen in the box and starts out with 8gb of ram. Right now you can get a surface book for about the same price as the surface laptop. So all and all I don’t think that the surface laptop is worth it for the majority of students.
If you need it for business it’s worth it. Like if you will be taking it to meetings and using Skype. The laptop has an outstanding battery life.
The surface laptop seems to be Microsoft’s take on apple’s MacBook air. They both rely on aesthetics and start off expensive.
