JJRC H11WH Altitude Hold Camera Drone Flight Test Review

This update of the JJRC H11 adds real time FPV video and altitude hold to make it an extremely steady flier. Buy it here 10% off with coupon code “quad101” http://www.gearbest.com/rc-quadcopters/pp_364383.html?lkid=10095996

Pros
– Very very VERY stable quadcopter. Excellent for beginners learning to fly.
– Controller buttons are all labeled in English. No need to decipher manuals and label them yourself 😉
– Altitude hold.
– Headless mode and one key return.
– Emergency motor stop button for crashes.
– WiFi FPV real time video received via free “Video Copter” app available on Play and iTunes.
– Camera has remote controlled up down swivel lens.
– 1000mah battery to provide camera and FPV transmission power in addition to flight propulsion power.
– Easily changed plug in motors.
– Gears heavily protected to prevent dirt contamination.
– Body feels “rubbery” flexible. Hopefully more resistant to crashes.
– Does not require FAA registration

Cons
– FPV video very short range and laggy.
– Recorded video low resolution 640 x 480 pixel, and choppy with lost frames at points where WiFi reception is lost.
– Altitude hold works well at lower speeds, but not so much at high speeds.

Dave Holden says:

Late with my comment but I just encountered a problem with WI-FI not linking on mine(purchased from TOMTOP) After extensive You Tube viewing I’m noticing there are different WI-FI links depending on the App you install. The scan code for the Video_Copter app that were printed on my “so called” instructions DID NOT WORK! The FLYEYE app DOES!  It’s a bit frustrating that the info that comes with the drone is useless. Thanks to YouTube and a few that indicated using the FLYEYE app!

Mike _10 says:

Hi I’m looking for a good drone that record 1080p and that costs under 300$. This will be my first drone. I am considering the syma x8g, any other recommendations?

Bill Hynes says:

Dear Quadcopter 101,

First let me thank you for your detailed and entertaining videos. Got this and the h502s,
which I’ll comment on there.

I’m looking for some help. I’m fairly new to this. Got a couple of minis and decided to
move up.

JJRC H11WH won’t connect to wifi.

The copter motors start with TX. All the lights go on including the green camera light. I have tried 4 android apps including the one from the code on the front of the manual. I used 6 different phones (Android) and got the same CONNECT TO WRONG WIFI prompt. The programs boot in each device ok. No camera view or control ability from any phone.

I have not been able to find a solution anywhere online.

I get a connected confirmation in my phone’s wifi settings
when I choose RL_UAV_AP_0000001 (175.16.10.196) indicating a strong signal.
But I keep getting a message “connected to wrong wifi” in the app.

I saw other people online with the same problem but no one had a solution.

I contacted Gearbest but so far they haven’t been able to help. A JJRC H11WH search on
JJRCtoy.com website comes up with no results.

There was some mention of dip switches be in sync for 2.4G matching but I could
not locate them.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Bill

DJ SOUL FORCE says:

I was surprised when I noticed that the “recorded video” (I assume was recorded on phone) was not as choppy as the video recorded from the Mobius’ screenshot of the phone. Isn’t the phone recording the same video as what’s shown on the screen? Granted, the choppy video taken by the Mobius is mostly shutter flicker, but I beleive you also said, the FPV got choppy at 30m, but the “recorded video” was still pretty decent when you were flying up around those lights – just wondering, if at the point when the monitor get’s choppy does the recorded video get choppy too! (…things that make you go hmmmm!) Thanks buddy, great review. DJ SOUL FORCE

The Drone Connection - Drone Reviews & Video says:

crazy how they are packing all this tech into these cheaper quads!

Dan W says:

i have bought two of these and they both flew off when the battery started to die. they lost control when the voltage meter built in shuts off the flight controller to bring them to home. i wouldn’t buy this model again. i am only down 100 bucks but that is a lot of money.

Ruben Kan says:

is there a SD card slot on this? Or you must have phone connected to save to phone?

Glen D. Spicer says:

Very nice quad, the AH is great. Not very much jello either. Great review.

Christopher says:

Quick question man.. What quad would you recommend thats under $200 with altitude hold?? for Ariel photography e.g. Runcam.. if you could name a couple or few in that price range id be ecstatic!

lakigucci says:

They should ban wifi fpv. It’s a joke. Rather spend little more for 5.8ghz lagg free fpv.

Jhoan Ramos says:

Stephen Walker says:

Could a different camera be attached to this? To give 720p resolution and better FVP signal?

Bill Somrak says:

Of course the wi-fi FPV doesn’t work worth a ^$*^% .. and as soon as you give it any serious forward pitch, the altitude hold doesn’t work well either. Limited range, choppy video … not a whole lot to like, imho. Perhaps they make a straight version of this without the wi-fi on it .. at least it could be a good trainer for someone just starting, as its pretty stable in low rate. However, a beginner will soon get into trouble if they take it out on a windy day. One thing you didn’t show was what happens when it loses signal. What happens if you take off to about 2-3 feet, then turn off the TX? A lot of these altitude hold quads have strange reactions to LOS (loss of signal). Thanks for the review. Cheers

Nico Kraakman says:

The video looks like the X6 a lot of gello, are they seeing that if they test them????,

Thx for the video Quadcopter 101
