Rowan Gallagher says:

Where did you get the mini HDMI?

Marc Jones says:

I just got the Andoer S7, which is a very similar monitor for $160.

* Accepts 4k signal
* Native 1920×1200 IPS
* Peaking, zoom, frame guides, audio levels, false color (more on that below), etc
* HDMI in/out as well as composite video in/out (helpful if you ever want to hook it up to a receiver and use it as a drone FPV monitor)
* Comes with NP-F and LP-E6N switchable plates, sunhood, HDMI to mini-HDMI cable (dunno why that one), cold shoe mini-ball head, AC adapter, other misc bits

* Doesn’t display battery levels, so you don’t know when your battery will die (unless its somehow in the menu and I missed it)
* False color mode doesn’t show the relative IRE scale making it fairly useless, unless you’re able to interpret the results somehow

Still a great deal, the image looks amazing just like Caleb said and having such a high resolution screen at 7″ makes checking your image so valuable, you can actually see what you’re getting and feel reasonably assured you’ve got proper focus without even relying on peaking or zooming (which is still a better way). I like the addition of analog composite ins so I can buy a cheapy 5.8Ghz receiver and use this monitor for drone FPV stuff.

Ferhan Khan says:

Didn’t you also review the Aputure VSII?

Andrés Rojas Antón says:

awesome review!!

Priscilla Jimenez says:

Does this work with the A7sii?

Rowan Gallagher says:

Hmmmmm that signal delay… Is it too much?

Trioptic3D says:

that delay is a real bummer. can definitely work with still photography but video which is what I wanted to monitor with it. do you think it’s a reasonable delay?

Norman Leibovitz says:

Does it work with the Sony A7S and what type of battery does it use? Is it those plate system where we can change the different types of batteries?

Thank you!

Ry Clark says:

great video to come home to after camping out in the desert. this came in on a timely manner as I’m about to pull the trigger on an external monitor….all but one you have reviewed (i pretty much buy things off your reviews via affiliate links). the other one I’m condsidering is the bestview 7inch 4k monitor. do you have any experience w that monitor?

Zack Trunzo says:

Dude you have been killing it with the videos lately! Keep them coming.

seaglents says:

6:14 The delay “kinda” bugs you but “it’s not terrible”? Have you seen another monitor that has a worse delay? It might be okay as a playback monitor but the delay is definitely terrible so it’s unusable as a live monitor.

Colin Slater says:

Love your videos! What do you think of this monitor compared to the Aputure FineHD VS-1 or 2?

rafik koudri says:

Awesome Video as always ! thanks man !

Luis Ruiz says:

a simple external monitor that you recomend for creating youtube content when your creating it by your own.
At least I will like to analize if im in focus, and good WB

Patrick Monaghan says:

Nice review. Will it accept LUTs?? Say, if we were shooting is S-Log2?

Brandon Charley says:

Can you elaborate on the video delay issue in your upcoming monitor videos? That delay looks like it would significantly limit the monitor’s usefulness. I can’t see using the monitor for anything other than a stationary tripod shot, the delay looked looooong.

Кирилл Бабенков says:

You can mount this monitor upside down! There is a second 1/4 mount hole on the top.
So, no problem with cables.

Randy Ireland says:

I absolutely love these videos. It can be so hard to pull the trigger on items for prosumers. Is this monitor just displaying what the camera is seeing or does it record its own video file?

TripleThreatRC says:

Nice job, thumbs up!

TechMadeEasy says:

Does SmallHd or Atomos not suffer latency issues like this one ?

Eduardo Olmeda says:

thanks man. love your work

Huy Hào Nguyễn says:

Was intended to buy this, then I saw the delay…

Jack_Fables says:

Keep killing it 🙂

Jakob S. Films says:

Really great review! Thanks for the helpful information!

My Road Tour says:

Now this is closer to what I’m thinking. I really did the shade feature as well. I need to see what in the $100-200 range first though.

Annie Ferguson says:

Caleb this is literally just what I’ve been looking for! I cannot wait to see your next monitor video; I am still very much at odds with which monitor to purchase. I really can’t see spending 1200 for the smallhd 502 but I am a straight up sucker for high quality gear. Would love to find something on par but just a bit less money. Again, I look forward to your next video. Thanks a lot man!

Blue Calm Productions says:

Can you load a LUT into this?

smalltalk.productions says:

caleb-once again, REALLY helpful. i would have like to take a peek at the battery options. one sony lasts how long? any battery thoughts you care to share? again, thumbs up.

UE853 says:

how bright is it in day light?

Steely Bob says:

please keep it up Caleb, this latest round of videos are awesome and incredibly useful.
