Oris Aquis (Green) Automatic Diver & Citizen Nighthawk Eco-Drive Watch Review + Channel News

***Please forgive the sound quality in the first few minutes. A new camera and sound set up are on the way!***

Today I review an old friend and a watch close to my heart: the Oris Aquis (733-7653-4137MB). This Swiss made automatic diver from one of my favourite independent brands packs a hell of a punch, around the $1000 mark. This time around, I take a look at the green ceramic bezel version on the steel bracelet. I also review the Nighthawk (BJ7000-52E), a very popular and affordable eco-drive powered aviation watch from the Japanese watchmaker Citizen. With a GMT complication, excellent quality and a competitive price point, I can certainly see what all the fuss is about.

Is the Oris Aquis still the best Swiss diver around $1000? Is the Citizen Nighthawk the best aviation or GMT watch around $200? I guess we will have to watch and find out!

One of the most accurate watches I own is Citizen eco drive. Had it for 7 years and it’s never missed a beat. They’re a bit of a hidden gem.

Nick Post says:

I’ve got that Citizen. It’s a shame you don’t have the stock steel bracelet. It has solid end links, and has a great look. As far as Nato’s you can get a thinner nato on, but you may have to install the spring bar with Nato in place.

Thank you for the Review. I’m glad to see more pieces I on your channel.

Scott Shields says:

I can’t find that watch with the white numbers on the bezel anywhere… Just the black on green. 🙁

John Vocking says:

My wife bought me this exact watch for our 25th Wedding anniversary and I love it. She bought me a wave face blue TT1 for out 15th too and that was my daily wearer but the Aquis has taken over. Only trouble is that it is so lovely that I want to keep it ensconsed in the winder case!
Love the videos and channel, especially the ever changing classy intros. Please keep the quality, it’s superb.

Matthew Turner says:

Oris is a great watch but the bracelet scratching the display back would bother me because it’s only mineral glass.

David A. Quiroa says:

TGV- so, you no longer have your Aquis?

stefa4k0 says:

This, the Rado D-star 200 or Tag Aquaracer ? what do you say?

MrAppleman97 says:

That citizen also comes in a version that has a navy blue face and an off white outer chapter ring (ref. num. BJ7010-16F) that is very reminiscent of the Navitimer. Unfortunately that model has been discontinued for some time now and I have scoured the internet for months now and have yet to find one on sale 🙁

I wanted this watch since it first came out and your video made me pull the trigger…Now I am waiting for this beauty and the Seagull 1963,but NOOOO more for this year!!!I must NOT watch your channel again hahaha!!!Greetings from Greece !!!

Idea for another show : Cheapest “bang for buck” world-time watch money can buy. I wan’t one so bad, but it’s so expensive !

3D Phil says:

Thanks for a great video. I have the non-US Nighthawk with the engraved back. It’s really straightforward to get a nylon NATO strap on despite the short lug gap – you would struggle to get a leather NATO fitted though. I only got into the idea of NATO’s after seeing your channel – and the Nighthawk looks terrific with one. Although not sapphire, the crystal is still unmarked even though the case has a few marks and dings and the legibility (with the crystal being flat) is amazing. ANother difference between the US and far eastern models is that the 12 and 6 are not applied – although the case back does make up for this somewhat.

jonathan Jaffe says:

are you going to make a video on the orient bambino 4?

Frank Castle says:

can you have one in California

Neill Levine says:

You’ll have to re-buy TGV! The Aquis is the classic post-2001 ‘modern’ design in a watch…unique.

Hi TGV, if you really have an ambition to learn to fly you can learn how to fly the ‘real thing’, eg a Spirefire’ or even a 747 using home flight simulation. The sky’s literally the limit.

Sarahanne Smith says:

I used to work with boutique perfumes (Creed, Penhaligons, Amouge etc) and would love to hear your thoughts on the ideal, and iconic, colognes and parfums. 🙂 Love your work!

Hani Ismail says:

Have you done a video about your total collection? If not, are you planning to?
Thanks!

Amado Sanchez says:

Hello TGV,
I have two Deep Blue Pro Aqua divers that I would love for you to review. I don’t believe I have heard you talk about them so maybe once some other viewers agree to also send theirs in you could do a Deep Blue review and comparison video!

Paul Robert Clayton says:

What’s TGV email or gmail ? Thanks

Michael Strange says:

Donkeys!! And here I sit with The Balvenie…

Andreas Huttenlocher says:

Great video Tristano, love to see the Nighthawk get so much love 🙂

Mike Braykovich says:

That Oris Aquis has been on my target for a while. Oh how much I wish I could be with you at that gathering in New York. Wonderful that you got together.

christian sister says:

Is is possible to remove the bracelet and put a NATO or the rubber strap on?
